The register keeps changing after the book is fixed in print. Each entry below was added to this row in the order shown.

  1. SUPERSEDES THE EARLIER MANUSCRIPT'S SECOND-HAND DETECTION FIGURES AND IS BETTER MATERIAL THAN THEY WERE. VERBATIM, WITH THE OUTLET'S OWN DOLLAR CONVERSIONS IN BRACKETS: 'During 2025, the total value of the amounts discovered was about 679.5 billion Syrian pounds (51.9 million dollars), and 3.41 billion dollars, and 158.4 million euros (185.3 million dollars), and 2.91 million pounds sterling (3.9 million dollars), while the amounts recovered were about 168.5 billion Syrian pounds (12.9 million dollars), and 329 thousand dollars, and 68 thousand euros (79.6 thousand dollars).' THREE THINGS FOLLOW AND ALL THREE ARE THE CHAPTER'S SUBJECT. ONE, THE LEADING FIGURE IS THE SMALLEST. Of roughly 3.65 billion dollars discovered, 3.41 billion, about 93 per cent, is dollar-denominated; the 679.5 billion pounds that leads the sentence is 51.9 million dollars, about 1.4 per cent of the total. A reader who takes the pound figure as the headline has the proportions inverted. TWO, DISCOVERED IS NOT RECOVERED. Recovery totals about 13.3 million dollars against about 3.65 billion discovered, which is roughly 0.36 per cent. The two are different quantities and the transaction-taxonomy discipline applies to enforcement figures exactly as it does to investment agreements. THREE, THE POUND FIGURE IS IN OLD POUNDS. 679.5 billion against 51.9 million dollars implies about 13,092 pounds to the dollar, which is the pre-redenomination rate. After the 1 January 2026 redenomination at 100 to 1 the same sum is 6.795 billion new pounds, and a 2026 reader comparing it with a new-pound figure is out by a factor of 100. ATTRIBUTION LIMIT: this is the head of the body speaking to an outlet, not the body's own published report, so it is evidence that the statement was made and is attributed as such. The Organization's own publication has not been opened and remains an untried route.
