RETRIEVED BECAUSE THE AUTHOR'S NOTE MAKES AN ABSENCE CLAIM AND THIS IS ONE OF ONLY TWO DOCUMENTS IN THE FIRST EDITION'S OWN REFERENCE LIST THAT BEAR ON THE SYRIAN HEALTH WORKFORCE. It is cited at the first edition's line 2037. The authors-note v4 diff review made this blocking, BL-2: the absence had been concluded without opening the candidate sources the figure could have had, and under D-051 a route this process could execute and has not is a bar on printing rather than a disclosure. READ IN FULL, 8 pages, a text layer extracted with PyMuPDF. IT DOES NOT CARRY THE RATIO. Searched for 'ten doctors', 'fewer than two', 'two in/of ten', any percentage within 70 characters of doctor, physician or health worker, and doctor or physician within 40 characters of 'remain': ZERO HITS. The one near match in the article page is about IRAQ, quoting Doocy and others that 75 per cent of physicians who left had experienced violence against household members. So this study is NOT the source of the first edition's ratio, and that negative is what this row records.
CORRECTED 20 August 2026, authors-note v5 diff review mi-1 and mi-2. TIER 3, NOT 4: EVIDENCE_PROTOCOL level 3 is an original peer-reviewed study and this is one; level 4 is specialist reporting and also holds newspaper articles in this register. AND THE CHARACTER COUNT IS WITHDRAWN AS A FIGURE: it was 46,675 by PyMuPDF and the reviewer got 47,865 by pypdf 6.14.2, so the number was an artefact of the extractor and not a fact about the document. The page count, 8, and the byte counts are reproducible and stand.
