Version history

The register keeps changing after the book is fixed in print. Each entry below was added to this row in the order shown.

  1. RETRIEVED BECAUSE THE COMPLETENESS CRITIC ASKED WHETHER 'THE CURRENT TABLE' WAS AN EDITION NOBODY HAD OPENED. It is. The chapter's phosphate arithmetic was computed against Mineral Commodity Summaries 2025 and the 2026 edition exists. READ AT THE RENDERED PAGE, because this is a multi-column table and Limb A found a column-drift hazard in this very series. MCS 2026, SYRIA ROW: mine production 800 for 2024 and 800 for 2025; reserves 250,000 thousand metric tons. World total production 239,000 for 2024 and 250,000 for 2025; WORLD TOTAL RESERVES 73,000,000. THE REVISION THE MANUSCRIPT CLAIMS IS CONFIRMED EXACTLY. MCS 2025, read at research/mcs2025-phosphate_pages/p002.png, gives Syria's 2024 production as 2,000. MCS 2026 gives the same year as 800. That is a reduction of 60.0 per cent, which is what source line 2225 asserts, and MCS 2026's own note names it: 'Significant revisions were made to the 2024 production for Morocco, Syria, and Turkey based on company and Government reports.' TWO OF THE CHAPTER'S HEADLINE FIGURES SURVIVE THE EDITION CHANGE AND ONE INPUT DOES NOT. Syria ranks FIFTEENTH of the twenty-four named countries by reserves in MCS 2026, which is what the chapter says. Syria's share is 250,000 of 73,000,000, or 0.3425 per cent, which still rounds to the 0.34 per cent the chapter prints. BUT THE WORLD TOTAL THE CHAPTER STATES, 74,000,000, IS THE MCS 2025 FIGURE AND IS SUPERSEDED; MCS 2026 gives 73,000,000. THE FOOTNOTE TRAP RECURS AND IS RECORDED: Australia's reserves print as a superscript 5 immediately before the figure, 1,100,000 in MCS 2025 and 800,000 in MCS 2026, which is how a text-layer read produced 51,100,000 in Limb A. Neither Syria figure carries a footnote marker. NOT READ: the rest of the two pages beyond the table, the revisions note and the world-resources paragraph, which were read, and no other commodity.
