'In November 2024, the industry's assets totalled just $12 billion, of which state-owned banks held 69 percent. Privately run conventional banks accounted for 19 percent and Islamic banks for 12 percent.' SO THE $12 BILLION IS A NOVEMBER 2024 FIGURE, which is before the change of government, and the chapter must date it rather than call it a 2024 or current figure. It attributes to a World Bank 2025 report the judgement that the state-owned lenders were 'likely [to be] distressed', and THAT UNDERLYING REPORT IS NOT HELD: cite what it cites, not this row. ITS PHOTO CAPTION CARRIES A CURRENT FACT WORTH CHECKING SEPARATELY: that the Central Bank withdrew the old banknotes from circulation at the end of July 2026, which bears on SRC-044's redenomination and on the AML thresholds at SRC-209. A caption is not a source; the withdrawal needs the Central Bank's own instrument before it is printed.
