RETRIEVED AND READ ON THE AUTHOR'S INSTRUCTION OF 18 AUGUST 2026 TO REOPEN APPROVED CHAPTERS AGAINST structural_disclosure_carries_its_attempt. Chapter 1 at its line 233 says 'World Population Prospects itself has not been opened for this book, so both are accounts of it rather than the thing itself, and this book therefore prints neither of their figures.' IT IS NOW OPENED, AND IT WAS ONE COMMAND: a public CSV on the Population Division's own site, no login, no paywall. THE FIGURES FOR THE SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC, MEDIUM VARIANT, read from the ISO3 code SYR rows: 1 January 2025, 25,170,891; 1 JULY 2025, 25,620,427; 1 January 2026, 26,069,962; 1 July 2026, 26,472,497; and for comparison 1 July 2024, 24,672,760. The file states its population columns in thousands and the figures above are converted. THE 1 JULY VALUE IS THE ONE THE PROJECTION SERIES IS CONVENTIONALLY QUOTED AT and it is the one a chapter should print, with the date attached. WHAT THIS DOES NOT SETTLE: the file is the 2024 revision's projection, so it is a projection and not a census, Syria's last census was 2004, and the chapter's argument about the denominator being unknown is untouched by having the projection in hand. What changes is that the book now prints the number from the source rather than declining to print it because the source was unopened.
