Its line 149 reads 'the translation I hold does not reconcile with itself, and the report behind it I never obtained, so I cannot tell you whether the defect starts in the document or in the translating.' THE DEFECT IS IN THE DOCUMENT. The Arabic original carries the same unreconciled totals as the translation, in the same order, and the translation is faithful. FIRST, A DATE CORRECTION THAT TOUCHES THE CITATION. The article's own stamp reads تاريخ النشر: 13.04.2023 | 15:10 دمشق, آخر تحديث: 17.04.2023 | 13:15. IT WAS PUBLISHED ON 13 APRIL 2023 AND LAST UPDATED ON 17 APRIL. SRC-036 and the chapter give 14 April 2023, which is The Syrian Observer's date for its own translation and not the original's date of publication. THE TOTALS, VERBATIM AND IN THE ORIGINAL. 'وصل حجم الأموال المكتشفة في ملفات الفساد إلى أكثر من 104 مليارات ليرة سورية (13.7 مليون دولار)، استطاع الجهاز الرقابي استرداد سبعة مليارات ليرة سورية منها فقط، بحسب تقرير رسمي صدر عن الجهاز بخصوص العام المالي 2022'. Both rows were written on 18 August 2026, after the v22 retrieval basis of 12 August recorded the attempt, and both said nobody had sought the document. THE PROSE WAS RIGHT AND THE REGISTER WAS WRONG, which is the opposite direction from this project's usual failure and is worth recording as such: a reader of these rows would have concluded that a free route was untried and that no sentence could present the gap as anything but open. AMENDED IN THIS PASS, 2 September 2026, in Notes, ON THE COUNT OF BODIES, which this row did not record and which Chapter 2 line 131 now rests on. “THE ARABIC NAMES ONE BODY”. It is named in full once, الجهاز المركزي للرقابة المالية, and thereafter as الجهاز الرقابي, الجهاز, جهاز الرقابة المالي and الجهاز المركزي, four short forms of one name; the 88 billion sentence attributes its total to جهاز الرقابة المالي. The English at SRC-036 renders these as the Central Organization for Financial Control, the Financial Audit Authority and the Central Agency, so its three institutions are one under translation, and the 88 attributed in English to a second authority is the same body's total. WHAT THAT DOES NOT SETTLE: the 88 is still a separate total on an undefined basis and the Arabic does not reconcile it with the 104. Chapter 2 v31 lines 129 and 131 work the arithmetic both ways and refuse the ministries-subtotal reading on the recoveries, 7.2 against a headline of exactly seven, and on the bases.
