RETRIEVED AND READ 22 AUGUST 2026. THIS CLOSES RETRIEVAL A3 AND IT IS A CLEAN INSTANCE OF THIS BOOK'S SUBJECT. VERBATIM: 'Natural gas production fell from over 21.9 million cmd in 2010 to approximately 7.4 million cmd by 2024, according to the Energy Institute's Statistical Review of World Energy. As of January 2025, the caretaker Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources reported production in government-held areas at 8 million cmd, with an additional 1.1 million cmd extracted by the SDF. However, this output has since been halted and it remains unclear whether production has resumed.' SO THE TWO FIGURES ARE NOT RIVAL ESTIMATES OF ONE QUANTITY AND THE SOURCE MANUSCRIPT HAS CONFLATED THEM. 7.4 million cmd is the ENERGY INSTITUTE'S figure, for 2024, NATIONAL scope. 8 million cmd is the CARETAKER MINISTER'S figure, of January 2025, for GOVERNMENT-HELD AREAS ONLY, with a further 1.1 million from areas held by the Syrian Democratic Forces. Different publisher, different year, different geography. Source Chapter 7 line 2173 attributes 7.4 to 'Karam Shaar Advisory's 2025 sector assessment', which is issue 9 at SRC-312 and which prints 8. The correct attribution for 7.4 is the Energy Institute, and the Energy Institute's Statistical Review has NOT been opened by this project; that is a new retrieval, owed before 7.4 is printed. AND THE MINISTERIAL FIGURE CARRIES A CAUTION THE MANUSCRIPT DOES NOT: THE OUTPUT 'HAS SINCE BEEN HALTED'. THE CHOKEPOINT, VERBATIM: 'The Conoco gas plant, the largest in the country, is located in SDF-held territory east of the Euphrates. With a processing capacity of up to 13 million cm per day (cmd), it is a chokepoint for the entire sector.' And the counterfactual: 'Combined with the 8 million cmd already produced in government-held areas, this would reduce daily shortfall to just 3 million cmd.' A DATE CONFLICT INSIDE THE PUBLISHER'S OWN SITE, RECORDED AND NOT RESOLVED: this issue refers to 'Syria in Figures, Issue 9: June 2025', while the issue 9 page itself is headed July 2025 and the PDF capture at SRC-312 reads July 2025. Cite issue 9 as July 2025, from its own face, and note that the publisher's cross-reference says June.
