READ 16 AUGUST 2026, and it corrects a date the chapter carried from v1. FIELDWORK RAN 15 JULY TO 17 AUGUST 2025, verbatim 'Fieldwork was undertaken by more than 100 participants over 25 days from July 15-August 17, 2025, clocking in at more than 78,000 working hours'. The source manuscript at line 1173 gives 25 July as the start; THE 25 IS THE NUMBER OF DAYS. METHOD: 'a sample of 3,690 respondents representing every governorate ... selected through multi-stage cluster sampling', and 'more than 420 questions'. It is the first poll conducted inside Syria since the fall of the government. THE THREE FIGURES THE CHAPTER'S HYPOTHESIS RESTS ON, with their wordings as this announcement gives them: 66 per cent 'reported that they saw no difference in dealing with others regardless of their sect or religion'; 84 per cent 'believed that Syrians today identify themselves and others based on sectarian and religious affiliation'; 85 per cent 'reported that sectarian rhetoric is widespread'. Also 83 per cent on discrimination being widespread, and a range of 66 to 78 per cent on not minding neighbours of other religions, sects and ethnicities. The last is a reading of the survey rather than a report of it and is the kind of secondary interpretation issue 43 exists to guard against; it was opened and not used.
CORRECTED 30 September 2026 (audits/reports/AOI_sectarian_figure_check_2026-09-30.md): the survey published TWO figures for the prevalence of sectarian discourse (SY_2025_79 item 1): 85 in the Syria results announcement (SRC-129, English and Arabic; the first three of four points, the third labelled 'Not prevalent') and 70 in the regional press release and In Brief (SRC-774, SRC-775; the first two). Any wording in this row that says no 85 is published by the survey is superseded. Microdata: 69.2 weighted for the first two, 84.0 for the first three.
AMENDED IN THIS PASS in Notes, on B-1 of audits/reports/D268_en_pass_diff_review_2026-09-30.md: "[quotation withheld, 30 words; follow the citation]" (Arabic, research/retrieved/acrps-2025-arab-opinion-index-syria-ar.txt: 'في الفترة 25 تموز/ يوليو – 17 آب/ أغسطس 2025'). The statement above that the source manuscript's 25 July misreads a count of days is withdrawn: the publisher's Arabic edition gives 25 July. "[quotation withheld, 10 words; follow the citation]", the 25 July date at line 217, so the sentence above that no additional claim reaches the chapter through it no longer holds for that copy.
