THE CODE ITSELF, IN AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION, AND THE CHAPTER MAKES NO CLAIM THAT DEPENDS ON READING IT. Registered at HELD_NOT_READ deliberately: nothing in Chapter 5 may rely on its contents until it is read, and the chapter's claims about the code's history and structure rest on SRC-160 instead. IT IS A TRANSLATION AND NOT THE INSTRUMENT: the original is in Arabic and any statement about the code's exact wording must go to the Arabic, not to this file. Available for a later chapter, and the natural source if the chapter ever needs to say what the code requires rather than that it exists. OPENED AND READ IN FULL 17 August 2026, on the author's instruction after C-1 of the v5 diff review. STATUS IS READ_IN_PART BECAUSE THE DOCUMENT IS PARTIAL: the translation carries the two static methods, the dynamic analysis procedures and tables 3-9 to 3-13 and 4-2, and it does NOT carry Part H, the fourteen appendices, the appendix list or the compliance and permit procedure. Nothing about Part H or about the compliance machinery may rest on this row. WHAT IT ESTABLISHES, AND IT IS TIER 2 COVER FOR MATERIAL THE CHAPTER HAD AT TIER 3. FIRST, THE 300 FIGURE IS IN THE INSTRUMENT: 'Seismic Zone Factor (Z): It is represent the peak ground acceleration in studied site as a percentage of gravity acceleration g (9.81 m/sec2)', and the zone table runs 0, 0.075, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25, 0.3, so the highest zone factor is 0.3g, which is 294 cm/s2. SRC-162's 'maximum PGA of only 300' is corroborated at the code. SECOND, AND IT QUALIFIES THE CHAPTER: the code DOES require a geological investigation in the worst soil case. Tables 3-9 and 3-10, footnote to Soil Profile Type SF: 'Site-specific geotechnical investigation and dynamic site response analysis shall be performed to determine seismic coefficient for Soil Profile Type SF.' And the dynamic ground-motion provision allows 'a site-specific elastic design response spectrum based on the geologic, tectonic, seismologic and soil characteristics associated with the specific site'. So the chapter's 'requiring no geological study of the site' is too wide as printed. THIRD, AN INTERNAL ODDITY WORTH RECORDING: the zone table stops at zone 3 with Z=0.3, while tables 3-9 and 3-10 carry a Z=0.4 column and the text repeatedly instructs for 'Seismic Zone 4'. FOURTH, ON THE SCALES POINT: table 3-13 classifies seismic sources by 'Maximum Moment Magnitude, M', not by Richter.
CORRECTED 20 August 2026, Chapter 5 v27 diff review C-1r and C-6. THIS ROW CARRIED TWO AMENDMENT BLOCKS FROM ONE PASS, because the pass was re-run and the writer appended each time, and BOTH OF THEM WERE WRONG ON THIS ROW'S OWN STATUS. They asserted that the HELD_NOT_READ bar stands in full. IT DOES NOT. This row's Status is READ_IN_PART and this cell records, above, that the document was OPENED AND READ IN FULL on 17 August 2026 on the author's instruction. The bar was lifted three days before the pass that re-asserted it. WHAT HAPPENED IS THE FAILURE THIS ROW IS NOW A CASE OF: the cell holds both the original registration and its later lifting, and the pass read the first and quoted it as current. A register cell is a history, and the current state is the last entry rather than the first. WHAT REMAINS TRUE AND IS THE ONLY THING THE v27 PASS NEEDED FROM THIS ROW: this document is the 2004 CODE and not the 2013 appendix, and the appendix is Arabic and was read at the Arabic per SRC-167, so the v26 sentence saying the appendix was read in translation was false whatever this row's status is.
